Facebook Launches “Slideshow” Ad Unit
Slideshow Ad unit is a newly launched video substitute by Facebook. Slideshow helps users generate videos and plays videos when mobile connections are slow and weak. For example, many people in India use 2G connections on their mobiles; this newly launched Ad unit will help play videos smoothly even when users are connected to such slow connections. Now Facebook will have two campaigns, a traditional video and a Slideshow. Based on the user’s connectivity speed, either of these ads will be shown. This Ad unit could be added on Instagram as well, according to reports.
How is it beneficial?
Slideshow will help advertisers create video ads with still images. One must simply upload few images and select the duration of the slideshow. It can be between 5 to 15 seconds long. Slideshow makes the process of video production simple and easy. Now anyone can make attractive small videos with basic connectivity and devices. By the way, Slideshow videos are videos without sound. It’s the ‘in’ thing in the market. Brands are already using videos like this to tell their brand stories. Slideshow just makes the whole process a lot easier.
Slideshow is free of cost and is now available to use. Slideshow will be really useful for small businesses to make video ads.
This announcement was made by Facebook at an event that was recently organized in India to discuss Facebook’s growth opportunity in emerging markets. Facebook plans on generating revenue from locations throughout the world where the connections are rather slow.
